The Park preserves the representative ecosystems of the Orinoco Region and the western savannahs of Colombia. It maintains water regulation and supply in the Tomo, Tuparro, Tuparrito rivers and several streams. Its flooded savannahs allow economic development of the Vichada department, as well as maintain fishing supplies for the Cumaribo and La Primavera populations. It is recognized for its scenic beauty, which generates benefits for tourists who visit the Park and for the neighboring population. It also helps maintaining the important cultural heritage and values of the Sikuani (Guahibo), Cuiva, Mapayeri, Curripaco and Puinave indigenous groups.
